Woodlands Caravan and Camping Park opened in 1998. It is set in
a wonderful location just South of Tralee Town and is within walking
distance through the Town Park to the Centre. The Park is owned
and managed by Mike and Martina McDonnell and family and is built
on part of the family farm. The McDonnell's have been part of Tralee's
history for 7 generations as family butchers and farmers until Mike
and Martina built a bridge over the river Lee and connected Woodlands
to the town centre and developed a top of the range Touring Park
in Tralee. A lot of research was done before the park was built
and in a few years the Park has come to be known as one of the best
in the Country. It has won the Best 4 Star Park in Ireland on three
occasions 1999, 2000, 2003, and is currently the runner up with
2004 Merit Award.
Mike has also received an Irish Welcomes Merit Award from Failte
Ireland in both 2003 and 2004. The latest Award is a Highly Commended
in the Alan Rodgers European Park Awards in the Welcome category.
Out of 2000 European Parks that were listed we are the only Irish
Park ro receive a nomination. It is the first Irish Park to gain
the new Disabled Logo Category 3. The park is recommended or listed
by the following , Irish Caravan Council, Cork Kerry Tourism , Irish
Caravan Club, Caravan Club, Caravan and Camping Club, Alan Rodgers,
ANWB, ACSI , Europa and all our HAPPY CAMPERS .
In the main facilities block are first class Shower rooms, Reception
with Tourist Information and shop, Laundry , Games Room, TV Room
, Coffee Shop, Disabled Loos, Chemical Toilet and it also includes
owners living quarters upstairs. Each pitch is a generous 11 x 15
metre size with Hard Standing, 10 Amp electrical hook-up, water
and drain and laid out in a level fashion.
The entrance is over a bridge followed by a magnificent driveway
surrounded by exotic plants and foliage that can survive in the
mild Atlantic climate.
